Senior Accountant – Calgary, AB

Position Summary:

Safety Net Security is hiring and is looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our finance team. Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Sr. Accountant will have the opportunity to join a dynamic, fast-growing team! As an Sr. Accountant you will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting principles and regulations. The role also focuses on providing timely and accurate financial reporting information to the business division and corporate in a compliant manner.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain the integrity and timeliness of the underlying accounting records.
• Perform full-cycle accounting duties, including but not limited to general ledger maintenance, accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliations, and month-end/year-end closing processes.
• Fixed asset continuity, amortization schedule management
• Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and company policies.
• Collaborate with other departments to gather financial data and provide insights and analysis to support decision-making processes.
• Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
• Conduct regular reviews of internal controls and implement improvements as necessary.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including proper documentation and filing systems.
• Utilize accounting software and IT systems to streamline processes and enhance efficiency.
• Stay up to date with accounting trends, regulations, and best practices to ensure compliance and contribute to process improvements.
• Perform other daily and weekly financial and reporting requirements as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Business Administration or Accounting Diploma from an accredited College or University
• Minimum 5 to 7 years relevant industry and/or accounting experience.
• Experience with Sage 300 or similar enterprise management and accounting application.
• CPA designation is considered an asset.
• Strong computer skills in all office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel-Advanced).
• Exceptional communication and organizational skills.
• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Willing to work overtime to get the job done.
• Typing skills 70 WPM

• Flexibility and willingness to work simultaneously on a wide range of tasks and projects.
• Proven ability to work independently while being a team player.

Job Type: Full-time

Schedule: 8-hour shift, Monday to Friday (Office based)

Work Location: In person. Candidate Must be based in Calgary, Alberta (required)

Accounting Experience:  5 years (required)

License/Certification: Chartered Professional Accountant – CPA (Strongly preferred)
